National ICT BackBone (NICTBB) Construction facilitates communication for all
In order to achieve the goals of delivering communication services to all citizens, the Government through the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology is continuing with the construction of National ICT BackBone (NICTBB). So far, more than 7910 km have been completed, 409 km are under construction and in the budget for the financial year 2021/2022 construction of another 1880 kilometers will be held.
The statement was issued by the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Dr. Faustine Ndugulile in Dodoma in a meeting with representatives of telephone companies in Tanzania, organized by the Universal Communications Service Access Fund (UCSAF) towards the announcement of tenders for the sixth phase to improve border and special zone telecommunications project.
For his part, the Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technology Hon. Engineer Kundo Andrea Mathew said, at present communication is like food for Tanzanians, so even a rural citizen needs access to this important service at low cost and that is the goal of establishing UCSAF.
UCSAF Chief Executive Officer Ms. Justina Mashiba used the occasion to thank mobile operators for their willingness to participate in the forthcoming tender for the sixth phase, stating that the phase will be focused on improving border and special zone telecommunications project.
Commenting on the meeting, the Chief Executive of the Tanzania Telecommunications Corporation (TTCL) Minister Kindamba, commended the Government through UCSAF for seeing the need to improve telecommunications in border areas while emphasizing that telecommunications revenue in those areas has now benefited neighboring countries. so the tender will help strengthen communication, defense and security of the country but will also improve the economy.
